We are learning about all different kinds of writing. We learned that Mrs. Earle needs to write a list before she gets her groceries.

In math: we built towers, a race car, castles, a house, and robots. Today was our last day with the math tools- we will get new ones tomorrow!!

When we came in from recess our numbers were all mixed up! (DRAKE)--- We had to put them back in order from 1-10.

In reading we talked about where we like to read when we are at home.
    My room- Madison
    My room- Keely
My mom reads me a book before bed- Egypt
    In the living room- Kerry
    In the living room- Da'zir
    In the kitchen- Mickelson

We are still practicing reading quietly to our self.

Ask your child if he/she can sort the following words using fruit/not a fruit:

books
strawberries
pineapple

baseball

What a busy day in our room!! We had a GREAT day. The students worked hard all day and got a lot done.
We had a really successful day in reading workshop. We did a full rotation and met with groups. We are on our way to being readers!!

In math we guessed what my favorite animal is- The clue was it has 2 eyes, 4 legs and a tail. A lot of students guessed dog, others thought cat. lion, My favorite animal is actually a zebra- but the guesser were great!!

In writing we wrote about something we like to do- we started writing words or beginning sounds to match with our pictures.

We started a little work in reading groups today! I'm very excited to be working with students in small groups. We are continuing to practice working independently at listening workshop, writing, and name writing.

In math we continued to explore with our math tools. We learned that some students were building robots and others were making hamburgers and added tomatoes with red pattern blocks.

In writing we continued with pictures and some students started with words and beginning letter sounds.

Today we continued practicing reading rotations. All the testing is done in our room so groups can start on Monday!! I am very excited to get groups started. Today we reviewed the words it, and. We will do more practice with them tomorrow and next week.
In math we read the book OOPS by David Shannon. We found out that the baby made messes, threw things, and was pretty naughty. We made a chart of how we take care of our math tools and how the baby would treat them. We had a lot of great building going on in math with pattern blocks, geo blocks and connecting cubes. Some things I saw built were robots, patterns, a hamburger, and houses.

We also practiced writing our names today with a capital first letter and the rest lower case. This is something we will continue to practice all year- and students did a great job today.

I added more pictures in the kindergarten photos tab.

Today we added listening to books to our reading workshop. We listen to stories on the computer and students seemed to love it!
In math we explored with geo blocks, pattern blocks and connecting cubes. We made some great houses! We also learned a new word- attendance. See if your child can tell you that attendance is counting to see who is at school and who is not at school.
